Executive Director

Hajira Hussain is the Executive Director of the Richmond Food Bank Society, providing strategic and operational leadership to advance food access and strengthen food security in the community.

With more than 15 years of nonprofit leadership experience, Hajira’s work spans strategic planning, program development, fundraising, stakeholder engagement, organizational development, and operations. She joined the Richmond Food Bank Society in 2013 and was appointed its Executive Director in 2017. Under her leadership, the organization has expanded its programs, strengthened food recovery and distribution systems, built strategic partnerships, and increased its capacity to respond to growing community needs.

Hajira is passionate about building organizations that are both operationally strong and deeply connected to the communities they serve. She believes effective leadership is about bringing people together, creating meaningful partnerships, and turning shared purpose into sustainable impact.

Hajira also serves as a Director on the Board of Food Banks BC and as Chair of the Richmond Food Coalition, contributing to collaborative efforts to address food insecurity at the local and provincial levels.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the outdoors, and staying busy with creative projects.
