Our Most Needed Items
Our most needed items are:
- Canned protein – chicken, turkey, meat, fish, and vegetarian protein (e.g. beans, chickpeas, lentils)
- Canned tomatoes, vegetables, and fruits (especially with little or no added sugar or salt)
- Rice, pasta, and whole grains
- Tinned meals (e.g. chunky soup, chili, cream of mushroom)
- Canned or powdered milk
Our most needed non-food items are:
- Diapers
- Ziploc Bags

Guidelines for Food Donations
We do not distribute foods that are more than six months past the best before date. Please donate only good quality, healthy items that are within the best before date. We recycle, compost or otherwise discard donated items that we cannot distribute. Help us keep our unnecessary waste disposal to a minimum.
Before donating your food, please check the CFIA website to ensure that your items are not on the recall list.
- Baby food or formula (non-expired)
- Baby wipes and diapers
- Unopened toiletries and personal hygiene items (e.g. toilet paper, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, adult incontinence products)
- Canned milk (especially unsweetened)
- Gift cards (for prepared foods or hot beverages, in increments of around $10 or $15). These gift cards are useful for those of our clients who do not have access to kitchen facilities.
To ensure health and safety, we are unable to accept the following items:
- Energy drinks and soda
- Pharmaceuticals (prescription or over-the-counter drugs, painkillers, vitamins, health supplements, laxatives, weight-loss products, antacids, decongestants, antihistamines, etc)
- Homemade items (foods cooked or prepared at home or anywhere other than a licensed commercial kitchen)
- Expired baby food or formula
- Products containing any amount of alcohol (including de-alcoholized beer and beverages)
- Cigarettes or smoking/vaping products
- Bulging, severely dented, corroded or discoloured canned foods
- Opened or used packages of food
- Recalled food items (please refer to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s website for updates on food recalls)
