Communications Assistant
Reporting to the Communications Coordinator, the Communications Assistant will support the Richmond Food Bank’s outreach and engagement efforts by creating content for social media platforms and promotional materials for programs and events. The Communications Assistant will also be responsible for sharing accurate, complete, and up-to-date information about our services with various stakeholders and community agencies. In addition, this position will support the operations of the Richmond Food Bank as a whole, including warehouse, client activities, and events. They will work closely with staff, volunteers, and clients to gather stories, photos, quotes, and other content.
Salary: $27.05/hour
Location: #100-5800 Cedarbridge Way
Schedule and Hours: This is a fixed-term 8-week position at 35 hours per week. The anticipated start and end date will be between May-August.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of social media platforms and basic graphic design tools (e.g. Canva)
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Must value social justice and food security
- Knowledge of MS Office is required
- Ability to speak a second language will be an asset

Training and supervision provided: The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for supervising and overseeing the training of the Communications Assistant. Actual training will include shadowing various staff members as well as regular check-in meetings with the Executive Director to set and monitor goals and performance.
This is a Canada Summer Jobs position. To be eligible, applicants must:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Program Assistant
The Program Assistant will play a key role in supporting initiatives that empower client self-sufficiency through food access, gardening, and nutrition education. This position involves hands-on work at our community garden plots, including growing and harvesting fresh produce. The Program Assistant will also plan and coordinate engaging garden workshops and nutrition demonstrations for clients and community members. In addition, this position will support the operations of the Richmond Food Bank as a whole, including warehouse, client activities and events.
Salary: $27.05/hour
