Other Ways To Donate
Non-Perishable Food Donations
Small donations of food can be dropped off at our main office at #100-5800 Cedarbridge Way during our office hours (Monday-Saturday 9am-4pm).
You can also place non-perishable donations in designated donation bins at any Richmond Safeway, Save-On Foods, PriceSmart, FreshCo, IGA, or Richmond Community Centres during their business hours.
We may be able to pick up larger donations (more than 5 banana boxes). Please contact us if you have a significant amount of food and we will make arrangements.
Perishable Food Donations
We work hard to provide healthy, nutritionally balanced grocery assistance to the people we serve, and fresh fruits and vegetables are an important part of the grocery assistance we offer. We rely on donations from farmers, non-profits, individuals, and wholesale companies for the fresh produce we provide.
If your household has fresh produce (e.g. apples on your apple tree) that you need picked and want to donate, Urban Bounty has a fruit gleaning service. Please contact Urban Bounty for more details.
If you are a farmer and would like to donate your fresh produce to us, please contact us for more information. You may be eligible for a charitable tax receipt or the BC Farmers’ Food Donation Tax Credit.
If you would like to donate a large amount of fresh produce (more than 5 boxes), we may be able to pick up your donation. Please contact us for more information.
Tax Receipts
CRA guidelines restrict our ability to provide charitable tax receipts for wholesale or in-kind donations. On occasion, we can make an exception for products that we require, if the product has a long shelf life. We will need the original receipt(s) in order to process the charitable tax receipt. If you feel that your donation may meet these guidelines, please contact us for more information or with any questions.
In BC, the Food Donor Encouragement Act is designed to encourage food donations. If you have questions or concerns about donor liability when it comes to donations of food, please see this page on the Food Donor Encouragement Act for details.
Host A Donation Drive
Whether you’re asking for cash donations instead of birthday presents, hosting a peanut butter drive or encouraging your coworkers or neighbours to make donations as part of a virtual event, your support helps individuals and families in our community who are struggling to put healthy food on the table.
Other Resources
We can provide information, brochures, donation forms, collection boxes, and posters. If applicable, our volunteer drivers can pick up items you have collected after the donation drive is over.
Virtual fundraisers are a fun and easy way to encourage monetary donations, which in turn allows us to purchase our most needed items. Start your own virtual fundraiser with Canada Helps or the Virtual Food Drive platform.
Gift Of Securities
Consider a powerful gesture with a Gift of Securities – donating stocks, bonds, or mutual funds to Richmond Food Bank. Your financial investment can be transformed into nourishment, helping us feed those in need and build a stronger, more resilient community.

Online donations are tax-deductible and you will receive an automated tax receipt from Food Banks BC. Please check your email inbox or spam folder once your donation is successfully processed. Although the tax receipt is issued from Food Banks BC, donations will be directed to the Richmond Food Bank or the food bank of your choice.
To create your own fundraiser, click the “Register Now” button on this page. Select the Richmond Food Bank from the dropdown bar and then create an account. You can either sign up as an individual (e.g. birthday fundraiser) or an organization (e.g. company, school club).
