We’re excited to share that the Richmond Food Bank is hosting the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY)! This will be our first year participating as one of two Richmond charities in this nationwide event. The event will take place on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, with communities participating across the country!
CNOY is an annual family-friendly fundraising walk to raise money for local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. To make our first year a success, we’re looking for team captains and walkers to join us and help us meet our fundraising goal!
With your help, our goal is to raise $20,000 by February 28th, 2026! To accomplish our goal, we’re looking for 15 team captains who will recruit 7-8 friends to their team, with a goal of raising $2,000 per team. Each member on your team can set a goal of finding 5 people to donate to their campaign.
When you raise $150+ ($75+ if you’re under 18), you’ll also receive a 2026 limited edition CNOY toque!
How to register as a team captain:
- Visit https://cnoy.org/location/richmondbrighouse and click “Register”
- Create your new account
- Click to accept the waiver and continue
- Under “Registration Type”, click “Create a Team”
- Name your team (and write a brief description)
- Accept or increase your fundraising goal (this can be edited later!)
- Once you’ve registered, your team and name will show up on the scoreboard and on our location page too! (Note: it takes 5-10 minutes to appear.)
- You can begin recruiting team members and raising funds immediately!
How to join a team:

- Create your new account
- Click to accept the waiver and continue
- Under “Registration Type”, click “Join a Team” (or register individually and join a team later)
- Search for a team name
- Select that team from the list and proceed to complete registration
