We are proud to share the impact of your generosity and dedication, which has enabled us to support our neighbors through another year. Our 2024 infographic can be viewed here.
Amid rising food prices and a growing demand for assistance, 2024 was another year of growth and adaptation for the Richmond Food Bank Society. Thanks to the steadfast support of our donors, volunteers, and community, we have been able to serve thousands of individuals and families in need.
Meeting the Growing Need
In 2024, we recorded 62,672 visits to the food bank – a 6% increase compared to 2023. Throughout the year, we provided essential groceries to 4,501 unique households and registered 1,569 new households seeking assistance for the first time.
We continued to provide multiple distribution points and home delivery services, allowing us to better serve seniors, individuals with mobility challenges, and families with young children. Additionally, we supported local nonprofits with 52,317 kilograms of surplus food, strengthening food security efforts in our community.

Food Recovery
Through strategic partnerships and the generosity of our supporters, we recovered and distributed 652,283 kilograms of food, ensuring that nutritious groceries reached those who needed them most. Our food recovery efforts remain a core part of our operations, redirecting surplus food that might otherwise go to waste. We extend our gratitude to local retailers, wholesalers, and farms for their ongoing commitment to our cause.

Supporting School-Aged Children
We continued our partnership with the Richmond School District, providing nutritious food to students across 51 schools. In 2024, we delivered:
- 78,268 fruits and vegetables
- 20,848 cartons of milk
- 44,650 meals
- 187,200 snacks
Through our Brighter Days, Fuller Plates campaign, we distributed 612 meal kits, ensuring that school-aged children had access to nourishing food even during summer months when school meal programs were unavailable. During the summer break, we also provided After the Bell snack packs, generously supplied by Food Banks Canada.
